It’s one day to the end of the initial Abuja Lockdown and the Covid19 effects show little signs of letting up. The government has mandated an extension of the initial lockdown and the effect on businesses couldn’t be scarier. From sourcing to preparation, payments to delivery, there’s precious little that’s totally within the span of control of the average restaurant.
And we get it. Totally! Cos guess what? We do not live on some far-off planet, and so we are also feeling the effects of the lockdown on our businesses, jobs, education, family and spiritual lives, and so much more. We’re totally rooting for you. Totally
So, yes, we get the pressure you’re feeling.
But that doesn’t excuse some of the things you’re doing during this pandemic. You don’t know what I’m talking about? Here’s a shortlist:
- Price hikes: Markets are closed, transportation isn’t at its peak, and farms aren’t as accessible as they used to be. But it’s weird if your peers have a small or no price increase, and you have a 50%-75% increase. Seriously.. you do realize you don’t have a market monopoly, right?
- Unexplained delays in delivery: Yes we know there are really few delivery companies operating at full capacity right now. So we expect that delivery may be a little slower. But hours late and not a word from you? Come on!!! That’s so tardy and you know it. And because we pay before the order was confirmed, we’re between a rock and a hard place. See why we’re angry?
- Rudeness: Is this even a thing? Should it be on the list even? Even in the best of economies, rudeness is such a dealbreaker!! Right now though… no one should be a diva. No-one!!
- Sloppy hygiene: We have no idea what you’re doing when no one’s watching but if our delivery comes with signs of messiness, guess what that does to our online ordering comfort level. You’re right!!! it goes downhill!
- Neglecting feedback: If it’s broken, fix it. Don’t ask if you’re not going to acknowledge the feedback or make things right
Hmm… That’s a lot, isn’t it? Well not really. Remember I said we’re rooting for you. The average diner wants his favorite and other restaurants to remain in business, and THRIVE!!!
So while this is about the issues, I’ll be back with a post about what you can do at LITTLE or NO COST to fix these. How’s that for looking out for you.
